Besides the re-engineered Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 Chronograph, Tag Heuer is also issueing the Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition to celebrate 40 years of Tag Heuer Monaco. Tag Heuer unveiled the first Monaco 1969 and in 1970 Steve McQueen made the Monaco a classic by wearing it in the movie Le Mans.
The Tag Heuer Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition is limited to 1,000 pieces and in contrast to the new re-engineered Monaco Calibre 12 still features the Calibre 11 movement. The blue-dial Monaco Re-Edition comes with an exclusive case back signed by Jack Heuer and engraved in honour of its mythical ambassador Steve McQueen. Other classic features include pushbuttons at 2 and 4 o’clock, crown at 9, counters at 9 and 3, hand-applied date window at 6 o’clock, and diamond-tipped horizontal hours indexes. The red tips on the indexes make the TAG Heuer Monaco 1969 Original Re-Edition stand-out from “normal” Tag Heuer Monaco watches.
