And just when we thought the reasons to make expensive, limited-edition watches can’t get any weirder, here comes one made to honor—get this—a highway.

We don’t know exactly what’s so special about the Montauk Highway, but according to Audemars Piguet, this Highway “represents an escape from the rigors of the daily grind, a passage to an oasis where water laps lazily at the docks and boats dot the horizon. In this atmosphere, time extends and contracts in dreamlike proportions. Audemars Piguet set out to capture this spirit of weekend getaways and clambakes on the beach, succeeding with characteristic polish and flair.”

Well, whatever the reason is, the watch’s cream dial and brown subregisters, plus blue hands, hour markers and (internal) bezel makes the watch unique and eyecatching enough to make it worth the moolah. The brown crocodile strap is accentuated with blue stitches, which complements the watch’s display design perfectly. This watch, however, is only available through London Jewelers in East Hampton and South Hampton and at the Audemars Piguet boutiques in both New York and Bal Harbour.
